Where is your primary location of missions work? Ghana, West Africa

Where else have you traveled in your missionary work? Portugal, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau

Family information: My wife & I have been married for 27 years. We have 3 daughters who have blessed us with 5 grandchildren. We also have an 11 year old son whom we adopted in Ghana in 2005.

Hometown: Greencastle

Please describe the scope of your current missionary calling. Our ministry finds us working alongside those in the Upper Easter Region who rarely, if ever, receive any outside help. We’ve built a school, tabernacles, & planted 11 churches these past two years. We also have a boat, provided by Africa’s Children, used to help rescue children who have been sold into slavery. Visit our website www.nicholsministry.org for more information.

What Bible verse do you find most encouraging given the work you are doing? James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure & faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress & to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

Is there a favorite quote that you would like to share? This could be biblical, from a famous leader, or from a local patron in your work. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. ~ Edmund Burke

The theme for our mission’s convention in 2011 is “Until the Whole World Hears”. Please tell us from your experiences what that means to you. We preach about good God, yet they live in a world where evil seems triumphant. We preach about a transforming power, yet people tell us that they see weakness in the church. May our lives demonstrate a good & loving God & lives that have been transformed by His Spirit.

Is there an e-mail address where you can be reached by our congregation if they have questions? garret.nichols@agmd.org

Is there a website where we can learn more about your mission? www.nicholsministry.org

Will you be attending our Missions Convention in February 2011? We will be in Ghana during that time.

Thank you, Nichols Family, for sharing what the Lord is doing in your lives as well as in the lives of the people of Ghana. Church family, feel free to visit the Nichols’ website or send them an email to encourage them. Garret, Kelly & Seth, we are praying for you!

Q: Please describe the scope of your current missionary calling.
A: We feel called to preach the gospel in outdoor venues, reaching those who would not step into a church building. Also, as part of the work of evangelism, we feel called to establish new churches through our outreach efforts.

Q: What is your primary location of missions work?
A: Mexico (Leon, Guanajuato)

Q: Where else have you traveled in your missionary work?
A: Central & South America

Q: Where is your hometown?
A: Salem, Oregon

Q: What Bible verse do you find most encouraging given the work you are doing?
A: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” ( John 15:5)

Q: Is there a favorite quote that you would like to share? This could be biblical, from a famous leader, or from a local patron in your work.
A: There’s a couple of quotes that I love: “You can’t work up what you don’t pray down” – unknown and “Missions exists because worship doesn’t.” – John Piper

Q: The theme of our mission’s convention in 2011 is “Until the Whole World Hears”, Please include a few sentences that the “whole world” needs to hear from your experiences.
A: The whole world needs to hear that there is only one way to the Father, and that is through Jesus Christ, the Risen Savior and Lord. He’s not a dead, historical figure that we pay homage to, He is alive and He saves today, He heals today, He delivers today and by faith you can receive all that He has provided on the cross right now! That’s the message we preach in Mexico where so many are so close to the truth, yet so far as they are blinded by dead religion and the traditions of man.
